2022 World Series: The Phillies complete a historic comeback with a Game 1 win
The Phillies’ victory was the largest comeback by a National League team in a World Series game since 1956.

Kyle Tucker made a strong and early case to win the World Series MVP award with his three-run homer in the third. It was Tucker’s second home run of the night, giving the Astros a 5-0 lead.

When the Phillies scored their first run of the series Nick Castellanos somehow made contact with Verlander’s slider.
Bringing them home
Alec Bohm brought in two more runs and cut the Astros’ lead to 5-3 in the fourth inning.

Boom does it all
After his two-run double earlier in the game helped cut the Astros’ lead, Bohm made sure the game was tied with a strong play at third base to end the sixth inning.

In the previous 10 World Series promoted by Taco Bell, the team that stole first went 8-2.
Jose Altuve’s A bloop single put him on base in the ninth with two outs. He then stole second base to score.
Not on Nick’s watch
Peña looked like the game-winner for the Astros. But Castellanos slid in for the catch and kept Altuve from scoring.

Realmuto stepped to the plate in the top of the 10th and drilled a solo home run to right field to give the Phillies a 6-5 lead.
After a pair of Astros players got on base and got into scoring position, David Robertson against 3-0 pit Aledmys Diaz. However, Robertson came back and got Diaz to ground out to end the game and give the Phillies a 1-0 series lead.
