Biden taunts reporters to their faces, with impersonations of press insults in the latest incident
President Biden appeared making fun of journalists They asked him the question during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the White House on Wednesday.
Biden hosted the Israeli president to announce the new deal Israel and Lebanon During the bilateral meeting in Washington. At the end of the meeting, both leaders, sitting across from each other, turned their attention to reporters at the back of the room. The two men sat in silence as the silent press corps questioned them.
Biden can be seen mimicking reporters, raising his eyebrows, moving his mouth, and talking quietly. The president was also seen laughing and slapping his knees before sending the journalists out of the room.
Bloomberg White House correspondent Nancy Cook said on Twitter that the White House is “extremely intent” on keeping the press away from Biden in the days leading up to the November midterm elections.
“Biden doesn’t ask for anything, as if the WH was specifically targeting the press [questions] With 14 days to go until the midterms, WH aides are screaming in the face of reporters trying to get Biden Q to follow every story today,” he wrote.
While the practice of questioning the president in public is commonplace, Biden expressed frustration with the previous dynamic.
After Biden spoke at an event in early October, he appeared to taunt the assembled press as they asked him questions as he was ushered out of the room.
“[You’re] between the only press in the world it will do that,” Biden said.
Biden was accused of acting hostile to the press several times during his presidency.
He has frequently sparred with the press, calling a female reporter a “child,” calling NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell a “pain in the neck” in the Oval Office when asked about the vaccine mandate, and once calling Fox News’ Peter Ducey a “stupid man’s son— ” he called.
In June, Biden also responded to a reporter when asked about economists who warned of a possible recession.
“Most of them don’t say that. Come on, don’t make it up, okay? Now you look like a Republican politician,” Biden said. “I’m kidding, it was a joke.”
Last year, Biden lashed out at CNN’s Caitlan Collins when he told Russian President Vladimir Putin that he was confident he could change his bad behavior.
As he was leaving the press conference, Biden turned to Collins and said, “I’m not sure he’s going to change his behavior. What the hell are you doing all the time?”
