The cycling world is mourning the death of Brian Robinson at the age of 92. First Brit to finish on Tour of France in 1955 – with Tony Hoar – the Mirfield native had amassed a very good list of achievements during his time with the pros, most notably by winning two stages of the Tour (Brest 1958 and Chalon-sur-Saône 1959) and the Criterium du Dauphiné 1961. Also third in Milan-San Remo in 1957, 4e del Vallone Arrow in 1955 and eighth a Tour of Spain in 1956, Brian Robinson – teammate of Jacques Anquetil during the 1962 season with the Saint-Raphaël-Helyett-Hutchinson team – he really made a mark on British cycling, hence his introduction to the Bristih Cycling Hall of Fame in 2009.
Pioneer. Pioneer. Legend.
