NBA – Dallas beats Memphis, Celtics remain undefeated, Giannis Antetokounmpo carries Milwaukee

Amazing. The Dallas Mavericks made short work of the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night (137-96). Luka Doncic shined in his long-range duel with Ja Morant. The Celtics themselves achieved a third success against the Magic (120-126).

Finalists in the Western Conference last season, the Mavericks were able to rely on a fired-up Doncic to win their first game of the season. The Slovenian star scored 32 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 10 assists. Newly signed from Houston, Christian Wood added 25 points and 12 rebounds to help the Mavericks win against the very inaccurate Grizzlies (9 of 33 on 3-pointers), where Ja Morant was held to 20 points.

With the Celtics, everything is going like clockwork. After a fairly even game, last season’s NBA finalists eventually took down the Magic, led by the unstoppable Jayson Tatum, recording 40 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. The Celtics star became the first player in franchise history to score 100 points in the first three games of a season. Derrick White also excelled (27 points), and Jalen Brown scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Embiid and his 40 points weren’t enough against the Spurs

At the bottom of the standings, the Sixers tied their team with a third loss, losing to the San Antonio Spurs (114-105). After losses to Boston and Milwaukee, Doc Rivers’ men could hope for a revival against the rebuilding San Antonio franchise. But despite Joel Embiid’s 40 points and 13 rebounds, the Sixers suffered defensively, allowing six Spurs players to score 11 or more points. “We’re not done yetRivers complained.Honestly, we’re just not ready. We’re not ready to win yet. We feel it and we have a lot of work to do.”

In Chicago, the Cleveland Cavaliers, especially skilled behind the circle (16 of 27), dominated the Bulls (128-96), thanks in particular to their rookie Donovan Mitchell (32 points). Finally, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 44 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help the Bucks win against the Houston Rockets (125-105).
