The galley continues for André Onana (Cameroon)
This Tuesday, Cameroon’s number one goalkeeper André Onana (26 years, 34 caps) decided to leave the meeting Indomitable lions in the middle of the World Cup. An avoidable doping suspension

The European body therefore decided on 5 February 2021 to suspend the player, then at Ajax Amsterdam, for a period of 12 months. A suspension that would have made Onana’s participation in CAN 2022, played in Cameroon, impossible. A new blow for the one who had refused to participate in the 2017 edition, still won by the Indomitable Lions, because he was starting to win at Ajax.

Finally the suspension of André Onana reduced to 9 months on 10 June 2021 following an appeal by Ajax to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, making possible his return to competition from November. After two selection matches in Malawi (4-0 win) and against Ivory Coast (1-0) in the World Cup qualifiers in Qatar, Onana regained a starting place at Ajax on 24 November 2021. in a Champions League match against Besiktas.
An abortive transfer to OL and a new experience
Despite his suspension for doping, André Onana sparked lusts in the summer of 2021, a year before his contract expired. In the wake of new coach Peter Bosz, who came into contact with the Cameroonian goalkeeper after launching him at Ajax in 2016-2017, OL has shown particular interest.
